Sequence Analysis Applets
- BLAST Client - Database Similarity Search Tool
- The applet will send an web based query to the NCBI BLAST server based on the input sequence and the parameters selected. The results are returned in a web window. There are two pre-loaded examples, one using a example protein sequence which preforms a BLASTP search and the other, a example nucleotide sequence which preforms a BLASTN search against the NCBI BLAST server. The capabilities of this applet are based on the NCBI Advanced BLAST page.
- PSEM - Protein Structure Evaluation Module
- This applet takes a single sequence and performs simple sliding window secondary structure predictions. Selected sequence in the editor are shown highlighted in the graph and highlighted regions in the graph are shown selected in the editor. There are two pre-loaded examples, one using a example protein sequence and the other the example nucleotide sequence of bacteriorhodopsin showing the 7 transmembrane regions.
- Format - Sequence Reformatting Utility
- This utility applet provides the functionality of the Genetics Computer Group's (GCG) toGenbank, toFASTA, toGCG, etc. collection of programs. There are two pre-loaded examples, one using a example protein sequence and the other using a example nucleotide sequence .
- Publish - Sequence Presentation Tool
- This applet provides the functionality of the Genetics Computer Group's (GCG) Publish program. There is an example which has been pre-loaded with with the gene for bacteriorhodopsin.
- Pairwise - Two Sequence Comparison Tool
- This applet is based on the "C" library USC Sequence Alignment Package. There is an example available.
- Pairwise Lite. - Simplified Version of Pairwise
- Similair to Pairwise but with limited parameter settings.
